About Associated Magazines
Associated Magazines is the leading independent publisher of women’s magazines in South Africa – producing some of the country’s most-loved glossies. Founded by Jane Raphaely and Volker Kuhnel in 1983, this family-run business prides itself on excellent editorial content and a passion for publishing. Now under the business leadership of Julia Raphaely and the editorial direction of Vanessa Raphaely, the company is growing its presence in both the mobile and online arenas.

Associated Magazines reaches an estimated 1.6-million readers each month through is awards-winning local and international titles. With 25 years of experience, the company has established itself as the authority on the women’s magazine market. “Nobody knows this market better than we do,” says managing director Julia Raphaely. Associated Magazines’ staff of 145 are experts in creative and innovative concepts both editorial and commercial. ‘We also have a unique and intimate relationship with our readers based on the trust built up over the years of excellent and consistent delivery,’ says editorial director Vanessa Raphaely.

South African titles to the group. The company now publishes Cosmopolitan , Marie Claire, House and Leisure, Brides and Homes, and is the only publisher outside the USA to publish O, The Oprah Magazine.

Julia Raphaely is the Managing Director of Associated Magazines and alongside editorial director, Vanessa Raphaely manages the 140-strong staff, including some of the best editorial talent in the country.
